Ingeborg Iona Isla Kvalnes (Oslo, Norway) merges weaving into a fashion practice that addresses the embodied knowledge of hands. At the MA in Critical Fashion Practices at ArtEZ University of the Arts (NL), she utilizes her Norwegian perspective on textile craft to question the time and space of hand-carried knowledge. She picked up her weaving practice through intergenerational knowledge exchanges with Selbu Spinneri and throughout her bachelor studies at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts. This hands-on method of thinking through textiles is central throughout her practice.
